I loaded the 4Runner with my son Dakota and my little Brother Jonathan and hit the road for a little drive.We drove up the 5 and hit The Ridge Route near Lake Castiac. Then from there we drove the 138E,14N,58E,395S,to the 15S back home.(I wanted a drive without the L.A. scenery)

The Ridge Route was not as rough as I was hoping. It is mainly crumbling blacktop on top of the original concrete roadbed with some areas of dirt.

If ever you are looking for a nice So Cal drive that does not take the whole day to drive this is a good place to go.I don't know a lot about the history of the area but I have included a link to a site that has info and a book is available also.
